Microsoft Sharepoint: New public portal
Lecta Group is a leading European company in the manufacture and distribution of specialty papers for labels and flexible packaging, coated and uncoated paper for commercial publishing and printing, and other high value-added media.
Its mission is in the production and distribution of paper, with a commitment to quality and service that satisfies customer needs, all from criteria of economic profitability, social responsibility and environmental sustainability.
Their need
Lecta considered the development of its public portal www.lecta.com with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2013 technology.
This project was started by another supplier and remained stagnant waiting to make the last changes that were needed, as well as due to operational problems in it. For this reason, Lecta contacted NexTReT to help them finalize the project and proceed with the final launch of their portal.
It was important to consolidate all product information clearly in a single portal that allowed it to be searched and located quickly. All data had to be collected in technical sheets, including its properties.
Additionally, “Mobile first design” had to be promoted with the idea of improving web positioning and to facilitate multi-device access for users; thus improving your user experience.
Our solution
From NexTReT we proceeded to evaluate the scope and characteristics of the project and to obtain knowledge of the portal. The technical and user documentation was carried out, the different components and pages were modified, the technical incidents that had been reported were resolved, and new developments on the portal were developed.
One of the most important characteristics of the portal was to obtain a constant update of all its products since all the documentation related to the technical specifications is periodically synchronized with the documentation of its intranet through developments in .NET technology.
Currently, in 2024, the portal is based on SharePoint Subscription Edition (SE) (initially on Sharepoint Server 2013). NexTReT has performed incidental, corrective and evolutionary maintenance of the platform since the beginning of the relationship.
The commercial relationship between NexTReT and LECTA began in 2010. Over the years, the web portal project has evolved and adapted to the new needs of the client and the market.
Results
The end result is a multi-language public portal (EN-ES-FR-IT) based on SharePoint Server 2013 and customized for Lecta with master pages, CSS, page layouts, custom WebParts, as well as the corresponding data synchronization.
Thanks to the work carried out by the NexTReT technical team, the project has been a success and the client has expressed his satisfaction with the demonstrated technical capacity, as well as the professionalism when approaching the whole project:
“I did not want to stop thanking you for your contribution to our new portal. It was a complicated project and at all times you have shown a level of professionalism, dedication and high services. Also, with a friendly treatment.”
