An intranet for communication and the work of all teams

The Medical Emergency System (SEM) is an organization that offers health services in charge of responding to emergencies and extra-hospital emergencies, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Its aspiration is to provide a close, proactive and efficient information, guidance and healthcare service in Catalonia.

They attend to more than 1,500,000 alerts, more than 800,000 interventions and more than 1,200,000 incidents. SEM required a tool to streamline communication and routine processes.

Their need

The SEM had an Intranet developed with an outdated tool that made the administration, creation and updating of complex content tasks.

The technological platform on which it had to be developed was clear, since they had carried out a document management project with Microsoft SharePoint, and the technical and user experience were very satisfactory.

Our solution

NexTReT proposed a global solution for architecture, design, implementation, integration and support of a collaborative space for functional improvement adapted with a new user interface (UI).

Initially, for the definition of the new technological infrastructure, a study of the architecture of the existing document manager was carried out, which had to be integrated into the new Intranet.

At the graphic level, it was decided to create designs based on standard templates adapted to the corporate image of the SEM, which facilitate their subsequent maintenance.

Regarding content, the SEM was the one who defined them based on its site map. Departmental templates were created, reusable, integrated by document libraries, suitable for multimedia content and with an integrated chat.

At the corporate level, communication is managed through a specific news app that facilitates creation and maintenance; that together with the search engine, allows to obtain any type of information at all times. In addition, the creation of forms, such as the one for incidents, increases the speed in the registration and management of requests.

The intranet incorporates a directory of employees, in which each of them can view and update their user profile (photo, position, etc.), which gives access to all personal information, and also to discussion boards.

Results

The SEM now has an Intranet with more informative and communicative capacity with a distribution of the contents by areas that facilitates collaboration, work and the search for information for all users of the organization.
