NexTReT was part of the Constituent Assembly of the GAIA-X Spain Association. From the Government of Spain and specifically from the Secretary of State for Digitization and Artificial Intelligence, led by Carme Artigas, the creation of the national hub has been promoted to deploy the data economy and bet on the leadership of data spaces in strategic sectors such as tourism , mobility, industry, agriculture and health.

The Government of Spain will be integrated into the Governmental Advisory Board of GAIA-X. With this incorporation, Spain will contribute to generating a common European data infrastructure with a cloud component that represents a secure alternative in the market and provides access control and reuse capacity for those who produce the data. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, through the Secretary of State for Digitization and Artificial Intelligence, will be in charge of representing Spain in the Government Council of GAIA-X.

By joining GAIA-X, Spain contributes to generating a common European data infrastructure with a cloud component that represents a secure alternative in the market and provides access control and reuse capacity for those who produce the data. The objective is to ensure data availability, interoperability, portability and that companies comply with European standards and values.
