The Sistema Español de Verificación de Medicamentos (SEVeM) is a platform established in Spain to prevent the entry of counterfeit medicines into the legal supply chain as established by the anti-counterfeiting Directive.

SEVeM is based on unique two-dimensional code technology applied to medication packaging. These codes, known as unique identifiers, enable verification of a medication’s authenticity throughout the supply chain, from the manufacturer to the patient.

When a medication is dispensed at a pharmacy, the pharmacy staff scans the two-dimensional code on the packaging and verifies it in the SEVeM. If the medication is authentic, dispensation is authorized. If there are any issues with the medication, such as counterfeiting or tampering, an alert is generated in the system.

Information about authenticated medications in the SEVeM will be used to determine the corresponding reimbursement that pharmacy offices must make to pharmaceutical laboratories and distribution entities for those medications that have been dispensed outside the scope of the National Health System.

SunSet Technologies, a company validated by SEVeM to provide this service, has created an application that verifies the dispensation of medications in hospital and healthcare environments, ensuring compliance with the Sistema Español de Verificación de Medicamentos (SEVeM).

This application offers seamless integration thanks to its modular API, allowing any management system to connect seamlessly, effectively adapting to any technological infrastructure. Additionally, SunSet SEVeM features an intuitive interface that ensures accessibility for all users.

The application prioritizes the security of each patient while ensuring authenticity and quality in medication dispensation.
