Hospital de Cerdanya

Update corporate virtualization environment and global service management

Cerdanya Hospital is the first cross-border centre in Europe, serving a territory between two states, with a population of 32,000 and a large influx of tourism.

Its objective is to integrate services on both sides of the border, making optimal use of the best of each system and working through existing healthcare networks to develop a complete and targeted service offering.

Their need

The complexity of being a cross-border centre made the need for a agile, flexible, scalable, integrated and technologically advanced infrastructure at IT market level more obvious.

As it was a hospital, it was imperative to carry out the migration and consolidation tasks without impacting on 24×7 services provided to users, even reducing the expected time of deployment of the platform.

Our solution

NexTReT proposed a global solution of design, architecture, implementation, integration, and support, management and future administration of all infrastructure according to the hospital’s required requirements.

A private cloud solution comprising market-leading technologies: VMware, Cisco and NetApp.

With these technologies, they can effectively and quickly have the necessary resources available by having simultaneous control of access to storage for their management.

They offer better performance, making all services highly available and providing greater robustness and tolerance in the event of potential hardware errors.

In addition to being centralized and intuitive to manage, they are broadly scalable and take full advantage of resources.

The main purpose of this approach to technological renewal is to ensure data integrity and the business continuity of the hospital’s applications and services.

Another important aim is to offer 24×7 support service in order to ensure that users have an optimal experience.

Results

Cerdanya Hospital currently has a technologically advanced, solid and efficient IT infrastructure, operating in a very stable manner and in which foresight and proactivity through monitored services is paramount for the detection of future problems.

The hospital has a dynamic, flexible platform that is capable of meeting business needs with agility and reducing the cost of implementing new servers and services. The new server environment will provide savings in terms of maintenance costs, hardware guarantees and energy use in the data center.
